CYC Extension Opportunities

As many singers are currently facing very different singing environments as well as limited opportunities in both our schools and our communities, we work to foster opportunities for growing musicians. Here you will find supplemental virtual workshops that encourage young singers in our community to explore in ways that expand their knowledge, encourage their artistry, and continue their love of music.

Who can attend?

All workshops are open to any student in the community. These ARE NOT limited to members of Capriccio Youth Choir. Please click on the descriptions below for details for each workshop.

How does this work?

Capriccio Youth Choir is partnering with area arts professionals to offer the best virtual workshop experience possible. Each extension opportunity has a different minimum and maximum number of participants to ensure quality instruction and a positive experience.

All workshops are virtual. Private Zoom links will be sent out to participants.

In a time like this, it is important to not only take care of one’s physical health but also one’s mental health.  In this active workshop, students will receive instruction in basic yoga and learn how the different poses help not only their body but also their mind. Students will gain a better understanding about how to listen to their body and mind and use the tools to deal with situations in a healthy way.   They will also learn about important anatomy, such as the major muscle groups, to better understand how the body works and how to best care for their own bodies. Participants in grades 7-12 will also learn about nutrition and how they can use food to fuel their bodies and stay healthy.

We are now in a world where we are often asked to record our own voices to submit to teachers, for virtual choirs, or auditions for college. But how do we do that?

In this two session workshop, singers will gain the tools for making the best vocal recording possible – at home! Participants will get instruction on how to set up their space for vocal recording (camera placement, environment, etc.) through an interactive environment. Each participant will use techniques learned to submit a recording for review in the follow up meeting.

Participant Age: students currently in grades 7-12

Number of Participants: minimum 4, maximum 10

  • If the minimum participant number is not met, the workshop will be canceled. Registration payments (minus fees) will be refunded.
