News

To Our Valued Friends and Family,

After much consideration of the current Ohio Department of Health recommendations regarding large gatherings, we have decided to cancel the Mass x 2 concert scheduled for June 14, 2020.

We are disappointed that we will not see all of you and enjoy a wonderful afternoon of Bluegrass and Jazz, but we know this is the safest and best choice for this year.

We value each of you and are so thankful for your support of Capriccio Columbus and our family of choirs, including the Capriccio Youth Choir and the Capriccio Jubilee Singers. This season may have ended a little early, but we were able to enjoy 4 wonderful performances first, slipping our Sounds of the 60s Gala in on March 6 just before the stay-at-home order!

We are in the process of planning our 15th Anniversary Season (10th for CYC) for 2020-2021 season and looking forward to seeing each of you at our concerts. In the meantime, stay tuned, and we’ll update you as soon as we know what we’re able to do next season. Even if we can’t all gather in one space, we’re determined to find a way to bring our music to you!

Best wishes for a safe and enjoyable summer!

Capriccio Columbus is honored to be a part of the 2019 Christine’s Christmas Concert at the Riffe Center on Saturday, December 14, 2019.

In the early morning hours of Palm Sunday April 13, 2003, an arsonist set fire to a house in the University District of Columbus, OH, taking the life of 19-year-old Ohio University student Christine Wilson and four others.

Christine was a kind and compassionate young woman who cared deeply for children and hoped to work with them in her career path, teaching and improving their lives.

Since 2003, the Christine Wilson Foundation and Christine’s Christmas have contributed to worthy charities with the goal to change lives and to continue the light and legacy of Christine.

Christine Wilson Foundation

Within a short period of time after her death, a few of Christine’s neighbors and the Wilson family formed a charitable, non profit 501(c)(3) foundation in Christine’s memory. They wanted to turn the tragedy into something positive for the community – and they wanted to do it in Christine’s name. With that, The Christine Wilson Foundation was born. The Christine Wilson Foundation has supported several local causes over the years, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital Burn Center, The Childhood League of Columbus, Miracle League, Willow Ridge Therapeutic Riding Facility, The Manger Store thru the Journey Church in Dublin, OSU Hospital Burn Unit, Christie’s Place, Bishop Watterson, St. Brendan School, and Wexner’s Children’s Concert. The Christine Wilson Foundation’s most noteworthy fundraiser is Christine’s Christmas.

Although Christine has passed, her dreams and legacy continue to impact the community through Christine’s Christmas. For 15 years Christine’s Christmas has raised money to support local children’s charities. In 2010, after supporting Nationwide Children’s Hospital for two years, the Board of Christine’s Christmas committed to raise $500,000 in seven years for the naming rights of the hospital’s burn center. In 2015, two years ahead of schedule, The Christine Wilson Burn Unit became a reality.

The Concert

On December 14th, the Columbus community will gather together once again for the Christine’s Christmas annual concert event in memory of Christine Wilson.

This year’s event promises to be the best yet, with music from accomplished pianist, Dr. Mark King, outstanding local vocalists and musicians, CMC Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, and Capriccio Columbus!

Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.  Please join us for this fabulous night of music and philanthropy!
